Graphics Tablets
Graphics/Pen Tablets transform your computer into a canvas, allowing you to freely express yourself by simply touching the pen tip to the tablet. Pen tablets are what most graphic designers arm themselves with, and truth is that they come in handy a lot.
Pen tablets are used mostly for drawing art directly to the computer screen, but even if your not an artist, and even if your not a graphic designer, I would still suggest getting one. Yes, you heard me correctly, even if your not a graphic designer, I recommend getting one. Why? Because pen tablets can be used for many things, and a lot of people prefer using them as a mouse rather than using the traditional computer mouse. A pen tablet is a very precise mouse, and with some practice, you can control it to be used better, faster, and more precisely than a traditional computer mouse.
Now if you are a graphic designer, then even better, you should definitely get yourself a graphics tablet. Not only can you use it as a precise mouse, but you can also use it to make things a little easier when your designing something. You can use it to do simple things like trace objects. Sure, tracing objects is simple, but it’s also very hard and time consuming. And also, you can use it to trace and create a replica of an item, and that way you wont have to use the actual picture and risk getting a lawsuit for copyright infringement. That’s right, you can just use the replica that you created, and walk away risk free because technically it’s not under the rights of the other person, it’s under your rights because you created it! :D
Furthermore, if you’re also an artist then that’s even better! You can use the pen tablet to it’s fullest potential by using it as a mouse, using it to graphic design, and using it to draw.
Pen tablets can range anywhere from $50-$2500, but it just matters what your looking to do with it.
The cheaper ones are smaller, and can be used for things like tracing objects and using it as a mouse. And the more expensive ones are bigger, so they do the same task, but they give you more room to work. And the really high priced pen tablets even come with their own screen, so your basically paying for a touchscreen monitor. Those can be used for heavy duty drawing.
I myself have the Wacom Bamboo tablet. It’s priced around $80 and since I’m only using it for graphic designing it’s just fine for me.
Graphics/Pen tablets are an amazing invention, and I think that every graphic designer should have one.
